What changes in the conversion
- Dialogue lines are converted; Comment lines and vector drawings are left out.
- {\i1}, {\b1} and {\u1} become <i>, <b> and <u>; other override codes (positions, colours, fades, karaoke) are removed.
- \N line breaks become real line breaks, and \h becomes a non-breaking space.
- Events are sorted by start time and overlapping lines are kept, so signs and dialogue at the same moment both appear.
FAQ
Questions
Are styles from the [V4+ Styles] section applied?
Partly. SRT has no styles, so italic and bold set by a style are written as <i> and <b> on that style's lines, together with any inline overrides. Fonts, sizes, colours and positions from styles are not carried over.
Does it read files with a custom Format line?
Yes. The [Events] Format line decides which field is the start, end and text, and commas inside the dialogue text are kept.
